In the vast majority of motor vehicle accidents in British
Columbia an injured person must seek compensation from ICBC. In
accidents involving out of province drivers, other insurance
companies could be involved. We can assist you in those cases as
well. Personal injury claims can involve compensation for some or
all of the following:
|
|
Pain
and Suffering |
- If you are injured in an
accident you can be awarded money to compensate you for the
pain and suffering you have endured.
|
|
Loss
of Income |
- Past Wage Loss:
This would include the wages you have lost from the time of
the injury until the settlement.
|
|
|
- Future Wage Loss:
If you are permanently injured you may be able to claim future
loss of income earning capacity.
|
|
Costs
of Future Care |
- If your injury is permanent you
may also be entitled to compensation for future expenses that
you will incur.
|
|
Services
Provided
by the Family |
- If a family member provides
nursing or other services while you are injured a claim may be
made on their behalf for the services provided.
|
|
Out of Pocket
Expenses
|
- If injured, you are entitled to
claim out of pocket expenses such as transportation costs,
damaged clothing, car rental charges, medical expenses, dental
expenses, homemaking services, etc.
|
|
Legal
Fees
and Expenses |
- If you hire a lawyer to pursue
your injury claim you may be entitled to claim your lawyer's expenses and a
portion of your legal fees.
